Veteran coach Steve Brewer enters his fourth season as the men’s volleyball coach. He served as the Thiel women's volleyball coach for seven seasons (’06-’12).  Brewer also currently serves as Associate Athletic Director and Director of the Bush Fitness.

A driving force behind the College’s sponsorship of men’s volleyball, Brewer has also played an integral role in the creation of the Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC), a nationwide men's volleyball conference made up of 12 Division III institutions focused on both academic and athletic excellence. Brewer currently serves as the President of the CVC.

In the program’s third season, the Tomcats had their best season in the programs’ short history, securing its second straight 20-win season and second consecutive trip to the CVC Tournament, a tournament in which Thiel again acted as host. In 2012, the Tomcats placed four on the inaugural CVC All-Academic team, while two received all-conference laurels.

Brewer earned a bachelor's degree in social science from Robert Morris University in 2000 and spent time as a student assistant with the women’s volleyball program. He earned a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Phoenix in 2004. Currently, Brewer is pursuing a Doctor of Education degree in Organizational Leadership/Higher Educational Leadership from Grand Canyon University.

Brewer started playing volleyball as a youth in Pittsburgh and as a senior at Upper St. Clair High School helped the Panthers secure their first-ever conference championship.

Brewer and his wife, Amanda reside in Greenville with their son, Jacob.
