CLEVELAND, Ohio (Dec. 30, 2009) – Junior guard Devon Adams (Philadelphia, Pa./George Junior Republic) scored 30 points to lead Thiel College to a, 90-82, win over Roanoke to win the consolation game of the Bill Sudeck Holiday Tournament hosted by Case Western Reserve University.
The win snapped the Tomcats' two-game skid and raised their record to 4-6. Roanoke fell to 4-5 with the setback.
After a back-and-forth first half which featured eight ties and seven lead changes, Thiel found itself down, 41-39, at the intermission.
The Tomcats struggled out of the gate in the second half, but regained their footing to take their first lead of the half on an Adams three-pointer at the 13:54 mark.
Thiel would not relinquish its advantage, at times leading by as many as 12 points, as it doubled its win total from a season ago.
Freshman Blair Rozenblad (Youngstown, Ohio / Kennedy Catholic)scored 23 points and pulled down 13 boards to earn his first collegiate double-double.
Senior Sean Devinney (Arsenal, Pa. / Central Catholic)also scored in double figures, coming off the bench to score 12 points.
Adams was named to the all-tournament team.
Thiel will tipoff the new year when it visits Bethany for a Presidents' Athletic Conference game on Jan. 5.
