Thiel Track Earns Three Out of Four MVPs; Come Up Short as Team
Stitt, Eaton, Riffe

New Wilmington (April 25, 2009) -- On a day where the Tomcat's men's and women's track and field team had three athletes take MVP honors and 24 top three finishers, nine of which being first place, Thiel couldn't come up with the team conference titles.

Alex Eaton lead things on the men's side, earning MVP recognition for the track athletes, with his first place finishes in the 200-meter dash (22.33) and 400-meter dash (48.96).  Eaton also was a member of both the 4x100 (42.92) and 4x400-meter (3.19.13 PAC record) relay teams that both placed first.

Senior athlete, Dorran Coley, cemented himself as king of the 110-meter high hurdles in the PAC, by placing first for the race for the fourth consecutive year.  Coley also earned a first place finish in the high jump (2.00 meters) as well as being a part of the relay squads that earned first place finishes.

Elliot Wreh-Wilson rounded out the first place finishes on the men's side, with the claiming of the top spot in the 100-meter dash (11.42).  Along with the first place finish, Wilson placed third in the 200-meter dash, while Deighton Williams and Derek Workman finished second in the 400 and 800 races respectively.  Freshman, Rashawn Walker, rounds things out with a third place finish in the 800.

Kim Stitt and Cara Riffe were crowned MVP for the conference championships on the women's side.   Riffe placed in the five events that she competed in, including a first place finish in the 400-meter dash (57.67).  She earned second place finishes in the 200-meter dash, the 400-meter high hurdles, and was a member of the 4x100 and 4x400-meter relay teams that both placed second.

Stitt ruled the field events with vigor beyond her years, as she placed first in the shot put, to go along with second place finishes in the triple jump and long jump.  Junior athlete, Liz Sitko, placed third in the discus, while sophomore thrower, Joy Metzler, finished her day with the third place spot in the shot put.  Senior, Chavonne Green, rounded things out for the women with a third place finish in the triple jump.
