Riffe Qualifies Nationally While Two Others Improve Provisional Marks

Columbus, Ohio (May 1, 2009) -- As the Division III Outdoor Track & Field National Championships near, more and more Tomcats are looking to make a date with glory.

At the Jesse Owens Classic at The Ohio State University, junior sprinter, Cara Riffe (Greenville, Pa./Reynolds) became the tenth Thiel College track and field athlete to provisionally qualify for nationals this season, with her school record time of 57.14 in the 400-meter dash.

Along with Riffe's qualifying time, Dorran Coley (Kingston, Jamaica/Kingston College) and Latoya Locke (Farrell, Pa./Farrell) both impoved their provisional time at the Ohio State meet.  Coley improved his time in the 110-meter high hurdles from 14.75 to 14.66, while Locke leapt her way to a mark of 37-10.5.
