OBELIN, Ohio (January 16, 2010) -- On Friday, the Thiel College men's and women's indoor track and field teams took on Oberlin College in a series of match races and throwing competitions, that saw the Tomcats take home six first place finishes.
The women were led by the sprinting trio of Brittany Brown (Pelham, N.Y./Pelham Memorial), Latoya Locke (Farrell, Pa./Farrell), and Moriah Monroe (Youngstown, Ohio/Fitch), who finished first, second and third in both the 55- and 200-meter dash. Brown won the 55 with a time of 7.73 and the 200 with time of 28.48. Brown captured another first place finish in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.81.
Junior, Joy Metzler (Industry, Pa./Western Beaver), rounded out the first place finishers for the women with a throw of 10.77-meters in the shot put.
On the men's side, sophomore distance runner, Richard Peterson (Cochranton, Pa./Meadville), finished first in the 3000-meter run, while senior, Brendan Taylor (Girard, Pa./Girard), placed first in the long jump with a leap of 5.93-meters.
