Brown, Eaton Lead Track at Spartan Relays

Cleveland, Ohio (January 24, 2010) -- The Thiel College men's and women's track and field teams ended their day at the Spartan Relays with five top three finishes.

Leading the way for the women was freshman athlete, Brittany Brown (Pelham, N.Y./Pelham Memorial), who captured first place in the high jump, with a leap of 1.57-meters.  Brown also placed third in the 55-meter high hurdles with a school record 8.78 and, third in the 400-meter dash with a personal best time of 1:05.42.

Senior, Latoya Locke (Farrell, Pa./Farrell), finished fourth in the 55-meter high hurdles with a time of 9.18, while Joy Metzler's throw of 11.27 in the shot put was good enough for fifth.

For the men, senior all-America performer, Alex Eaton (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep.), finished first in the 400-meter dash and was part of the 4x400-meter relay team that took first in a thrilling race.  With a time of 3:26.18, Eaton, along with Derek Workman (Valencia, Pa./Mars), Nick Youngblood (Hadley, Pa./Greenville), and Ethan Rowe (Fairmont City, Pa./Redbank Valley), came from behind to beat the men of Notre Dame College (Ohio) by 0:00.19.

Rowe also finished fourth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 51.96, while Brendan Taylor (Girard, Pa./Girard) ended his day fourth in the long jump with a leap of 6.39-meters.
