YPSILANTI, Mich. (Jan. 23, 2010) – Sophomore 165-pounder Alec Miller (Transfer, Pa./Grove City) (Transfer, pa./Grove City) went 2-1 to highlight a three-loss outing for Thiel College on Saturday at the Eastern Michigan University Duals. With the setbacks the Tomcats fall to 5-8 on the season.
Eastern Michigan defeated Thiel, 41-6, University of Indianapolis prevailed, 35-7, and – in the closest match of the day – Olivet earned a 27-14 win over the 'Cats.
Miller was Thiel's only two-match winner on the day, upping his season record to 11-7.
Michigan native Tommy Kozak (Belleville,MI/Belleville) (Belleville, Mich./Belleville) defeated EMU's Jordan McGuire, 5-2, but fell to Olivet's Adam Wilson, 2-0, in overtime to finish the day with a 1-1 mark. The freshman 133-pounder is now 14-6 on the season.
Sophomore 141-pounder Corey Brown (Greenville, Pa./Reynolds) (Greenville, Pa./Reynolds) also went 1-1 on the day, defeating Indianapolis' Johnny Henry, 8-6, before falling to Olivet's fourth-ranked Vince Tucker, 8-3.
Thiel returns to action on Saturday when they welcome WVU Tech, RIT and Mercyhurst-Northeast for the 2010 Mel Berry Duals.
