Adams, Morris earn PAC weekly accolades

WEXFORD, Pa. (Feb. 1, 2010) – Two Thiel College student-athletes have earned Presidents' Athletic Conference weekly awards it was announced on Monday afternoon. Junior guard Devon Adams (Philadelphia, Pa./George Junior Republic) was named the league's men's basketball Player of the Week, while sophomore 184-pounder Patrick Morris (Graysville, Pa./West Greene) (Graysville, Pa./West Greene) picked up Wrestler of the Week honors.
 
Adams led the Tomcats to a pair of PAC wins last week by averaging 24.0 points, 5.0 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game, while shooting 56 percent (10-of-18) from three-point range. He posted a team-high 22 points as the Tomcats rolled past PAC foe Geneva 93-69, then recorded a game-high 26 markers as Thiel won at Washington &Jefferson, 78-68, snapping a 10-game losing streak to the Presidents. With the wins, Thiel has now won four consecutive contests.
 
Morris won two matches last week pin fall and a third by technical fall. He won his first match of the day at 184-lbs. against RIT's Tyler Brent. His second and third matches were at 197-lbs., and yielded the same result – Morris pinned Mercyhurst North East's Jeff Hawryliw in 6:18 and earned a, 18-3, technical fall against WVU Tech's James Kerns.
 
The Thiel men's basketball team returns to action at 8 p.m. on Wednesday when it welcomes Bethany. The Tomcat wrestlers host Washington & Jefferson on Friday in a 7 p.m. match.
