Geneva, Ohio (February 18, 2010) --
Alex Eaton (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep.) and
Brittany Brown (Pelham, N.Y./Pelham Memorial) led the way for the Thiel College men's and women's track and field teams on Wednesday, provisionally qualifying for the NCAA Indoor National Championship meet.
Brown led the way for the women, adding three more school records to her already impressive resume, to go along with her provisionally qualifying for nationals.
The Pelham, N.Y. native now owns records for the pentathlon event in the 60-meter dash (9.06) and high jump (1.60-meters), culminating in her breaking the overall pentathlon record with a score of 3201. Brown's assault on the pentathlon record book on Wednesday was good enough to earn a provisional qualifying mark in the national pentathlon event.
Brown's score is the fourth highest in the nation this season.
On the men's side of things, Eaton lowered his provisional qualifying time in the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.43, moving him up to the sixth fastest time in the nation.
Ethan Rowe (Fairmont City, Pa./Redbank Valley) ran a personal best time of 50.17 in the 400, earning third place right behind Eaton.
