Wexford, Pa. (February 27, 2010) -- The Thiel College women's basketball team had two of its members named all-PAC on Saturday. Freshman forward,
Kelly Barzak (Warren, OH/Howland), was named second team, while sophomore swing,
Ashley Davis (Cleveland, OH/St. Peter Chanel), earned honorable mention recognition.
Barzak was a defensive stalwart for the Tomcats this season, averaging a conference-high 2.60 blocks per contest, while finishing second on the team in steals per game with 1.2.
The Warren, Ohio native has two of Thiel's top three single season marks for blocks in a game, with her masterpiece coming in a Jan. 13 match up against Westminster College, where she blocked, a Thiel record, nine shots. Barzak's 62 total blocks ranks second in Thiel history for a single season, and ties her for eighth all-time.
Davis provided an offensive spark for the women of Thiel, finishing eighth in the conference with 12.4 points per game. The Cleveland, Ohio native also led the Tomcats in field goals, converting on 124-of-302 (.411) shots.
