GREENVILLE, Pa. (March 10, 2010) – A pair of 2009 Thiel College graduates will be honored for their outstanding collegiate careers during Sunday’s Thiel Athletics Hall of Fame banquet. Seven-time track & field All-American Dorran Coley (Kingston, Jamaica) and women’s basketball standout Amber Bodrick (Youngstown, Ohio) will receive the Charles Evanoff and J. Lynn Trimble awards, respectively.
Bodrick was a four-year letterwinner for the Tomcat basketball team as a guard and forward. The Youngstown, Ohio native finished her career with 1,867 points (second all-time), 733 field goals (first all-time), 828 rebounds (tied for third), 96 blocked shots (third), 194 steals (sixth all-time, and 202 assists (ninth). With all four of her single-season scoring outputs ranking in the top ten in Thiel College history, Bodrick is one of the most decorated scorers in Thiel College and Presidents' Athletic Conference history.
The 5-9 swing was a four-time first team All-PAC honoree, a three-time second team All-Great Lakes Region honoree and a DIII News All-America selection. Off the court Bodrick was a founding member of TC Helping Hands, as well as, a member of the OBC. She finished her academic career with a 3.0 cumulative GPA and earned Dean’s List recognition in the spring of 2009.
Coley was a four-year letter winner in both track and field and soccer for Thiel College. The Kingston, Jamaica native cemented his legend in his very first season, earning his first of three PAC Most Outstanding Performer awards at the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Through the duration of Coley’s career he won 13 PAC Championships and earned All-America recognition seven times. The accounting major earned a national runner up in the 110-meter hurdles in 2007 and placed third in the event in 2008. Coley is currently one of the most decorated athletes that has ever stepped foot on the Thiel College campus.
The Charles Evanoff and J. Lynn Trimble Awards are given to a male and a female athlete from the previous year’s senior class who, in the judgment of the coaches, best demonstrated qualities of scholarship, leadership, character and sportsmanship in addition to participation in athletics.
The Charles Evanoff Award is named after Thiel College hall of fame wrestler and football player Charles Evanoff ’64. The J. Lynn Trimble Award is named after former Tomcat volleyball and softball coach J. Lynn Trimble.
Thiel’s 30th Athletic Hall of Fame banquet will take place on Sunday, March 14 at the Howard Miller Student Center. Tomcat greats Bob Dean, Tom Guskey, Marian Mosser and Shawn Harding will be inducted during the event.
