WEST MIDDLESEX, Pa. (April 20, 2010) – The Thiel College men's golf team showed a 20-stroke improvement from the first to second days of the Presidents' Athletic Conference Championship to card a collective 357-337-694. Coupled with the Tomcat's PAC Fall Invitational score of 792, their combined score of 1,413 was good enough to clinch sixth place out of the league's seven championship-eligible teams.
Thomas More won the team championship with a score of 1,211. All 72 holes were staged at Oak Tree Country Club.
Senior
Ryan Oldfield (Akron, OH/St.Vincent-St.Mary) showed a 20-stroke improvement on his own scorecard with a 85-78-163 that tied for 20th place, individually.
By firing a couple of 174s,
Matt Christian (Glenshaw, Pa./Shaler Area) (83-91-174) and
Mike Deems (New Brighton, Pa./New Brighton) (87-87-174) each tied for 30th place.
Andrew Garrett (Middleburg Heights, Ohio/Midpark) shot an 81 on day two to improve his 102 from the first round of competition. His 183 put him in 37th place.
With a 105x-99x-204 Charlie Hockenberry rounded out the Thiel entry.
Thiel wraps up its 2010 season with a visit to the Grove City Invitational on April 24.
