WEST MIDDLESEX, Pa. (April 20, 2010) – The Thiel College men’s golf team showed a 20-stroke improvement from the first to second days of the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Championship to card a collective 357-337-694. Coupled with the Tomcat’s PAC Fall Invitational score of 792, their combined score of 1,413 was good enough to clinch sixth place out of the league’s seven championship-eligible teams.
Thomas More won the team championship with a score of 1,211. All 72 holes were staged at Oak Tree Country Club.
Senior Ryan Oldfield showed a 20-stroke improvement on his own scorecard with a 85-78-163 that tied for 20th place, individually.
By firing a couple of 174s, Matt Christian (83-91-174) and Mike Deems (87-87-174) each tied for 30th place. Andrew Garrett shot an 81 on day two to improve his 102 from the first round of competition. His 183 put him in 37th place.
With a 105x-99x-204 Charlie Hockenberry rounded out the Thiel entry.
Thiel wraps up its 2010 season with a visit to the Grove City Invitational on April 24.
