CANTON, Ohio (April 4, 2010) – The Thiel College men’s and women’s track and field teams earned nine top-three finishes at the Jack Hazen Open on Saturday.
Senior athlete,
Latoya Locke (Farrell, Pa./Farrell), led the way for the women, finishing first in the 100-meter hurdles, with a time of 15.72, while second in the 200-meter dash.
Freshman phenom,
Brittany Brown (Pelham, N.Y./Pelham Memorial), performed admirably on Saturday, finishing second to Locke in the hurdles, with a time of 15.75, while placing third in the high jump with a leap of 1.62-meters. First-year thrower,
Cassidy Kravec (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin), rounded out the women’s top performers with a second place heave of 35.54-meters in the javelin.
Perennial all-America senior,
Alex Eaton (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep.), earned the men’s only first place finish of the day, with a time of 50.48 in the 400-meter dash, while
Ethan Rowe (Fairmont City, Pa./Redbank Valley) placed second in the event at a pace of 50.73.
Rowe also earned third place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.08, while
Scott Stano (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep.) rounded out the men’s top finishers, placing second in the javelin with a throw of 48.52.
The Thiel College track and field teams will compete again at the Mount Union Open, Saturday, April 10.
