Rankin Headlines Softball's Five all-PAC Group

WEXFORD, PA -- After a season that saw them win a school-record tying 19 games, the Thiel College softball team had five players earn all-PAC honors.

Leading the 'Cat women with a first team nod is junior catcher, Melissa Rankin (Scenery Hill, Pa./Bentworth).  This is the third time in as many years that the Scenery Hill, Pa. native was named all-PAC and the first time she earned first team.  Rankin finished the season ranked in the top ten in conference in six offensive categories, including leading the PAC in doubles (15).  The junior catcher ended her year 46-for-121(.380) at the plate, with 17 RBIs and 27 scored runs.

Laura Davin (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) was named second team all-PAC for the third year in a row after displaying exemplary play at the plate and in centerfield.  The Bethel Park, Pa. native finished the season with 13 doubles (third-most in PAC), 38 hits and 18 scored runs.

Rounding out the second team is the pitching duo of, Emily Batiz (Leechburg, Pa./Leechburg Area) and Kristen Moreland (Dover, Ohio/Dover), who served as dual aces for the Tomcat rotation. Batiz finished the season with a 2.49 ERA, while holding opposing batters to a .233 batting average.  All three of Batiz's single season strike out totals rank in the top four in Thiel College history, with this year output of 83 finishing second all-time.

Moreland ended her season with nine victories, to go along with a 3.05 ERA, and a team leading, 103.1 innings of work.

Elise Moore (Apollo, PA/Kiski) returned to the all-PAC list with an honorable mention nod for her play at first base, and her knack for timely hits.  Moore tallied 34 hits, drove in 16 runs, while scoring 11.
