MEADVILLE, PA. (May 14, 2010) -- Senior 400-meter specialist, Alex Eaton (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep.), became the first Thiel College athlete to qualify for the 2010 Division III NCAA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships with a blistering time of 47.13 on Friday.
Eaton's blazing time cut nearly a second off the Thiel College record (48.02) he set in 2008, and currently ranks as the fastest time in the nation by a little under a half a second.
The Erie, Pa. native spent most of the indoor and outdoor season battling nagging injuries, but he has clearly become healthy just in time to vie for his first ever national title.
