Eaton Searching for His First National Title

GREENVILLE, PA. (May 26, 2010) -- After an injury riddled outdoor season, senior sprinter, Alex Eaton (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep.), roared back into the National picture two weeks ago with a blistering time, and school record, 47.13 in the men's 400-meter dash.  Along with surpassing the automatic qualifying mark for the 2010 Division III Outdoor National Championships, it also ranked as the fastest time in the nation.

That time may have been beaten just a day later, but Eaton's goal of capturing his first national title is still the same.  Last season during nationals, the Erie, Pa. native finished a hair short of a National Championship, placing second with a then school record time of, 47.56.

Eaton, a five-time all-America performer, spent most of this season racing sporadically due to nagging injuries.  But, those issues all seem to be behind him, however, as he's is running faster than he ever has, with his focus dead set on Berea, Ohio.

The Division III NCAA Outdoor National Championships begins Thursday, May 27 at Baldwin-Wallace College, with Eaton's first heat taking place the following day at 4:25 p.m.
