Heim takes down 7th ranked heavyweight with signature move

GREENVILLE, Pa. — The Thiel wrestlers battled tough against 22nd-ranked Mount Union but came up a couple of wins short in a 24-12 loss Friday night at Beeghly Gymnasium.

The highlight of the match for Thiel came at 285, when freshman Blake Heim (Greenville, Pa./Reynolds) took down the seventh ranked heavyweight according to the NWCA, senior Nick Terifaj by pin, just 48 seconds into the match. Heim, using his signature move, the headlock, moved quickly and after a few seconds of struggling for position, Terifaj was down for the count. With the upset win, Heim improves to 13-4 on the year and handed Terifaj just his third loss (9-3) this season.

The other highlight for the Tomcats came at 184, when sophomore Jacob Lowry (Smithfield, Pa./Albert Gallatin), who hadn't wrestled in several matches, returned to the mat to pin Jeremy Hathaway in just 1:46 minutes. Lowry has yet to lose this season, improving to 7-0.

The Tomcats (2-4) will be back in action on Saturday for a Presidents' Athletic Conference dual against Washington and Jefferson College. First match starts at 1 p.m.
