Men's Volleyball releases 2013 schedule

GREENVILLE, PA – The Thiel College men's volleyball team and head coach Steve Brewer released their 2013 schedule on Wednesday afternoon. The 31-match slate has the Tomcats hosting three tournaments including the Continental Volleyball Conference tournament on April 12th and 13th, as well as partaking in the CVC Weekend hosted by Eastern Mennonite University and the Penn State Behrend tournament.

The season begins on January 22 at Adrian, Michigan against Siena Heights University. The Tomcats will follow that up with their home opener the following weekend, as they host the 2013 Thiel College Tournament. The tournament features matches against Eastern Mennonite University and defending CVC and 2012 NCAA DIII runner-up Carthage College on Saturday, January 26 as well as matches against Penn State Behrend and Penn State Altoona the following day.

A non-conference doubleheader comes next with the Tomcats traveling to Harrisonburg, Virginia to take on first-year program Gallaudet University and fellow CVC member and host Eastern Mennonite.

The 2013 season will see three Continental Volleyball Conference weekends where CVC teams from across the country will gather for conference play. The first of these three weekends takes place in Greenville, PA on February 9-10. That weekend the Tomcats square off with CVC foes Juniata College, Stevenson University and Eastern Mennonite and Carthage.

Before Thiel hosts a tri-match, they will first play a non-conference match against Hilbert College on February 12.

On March 1st the Tomcats host the Milwaukee School of Engineering. The following day will feature a rematch against Siena Heights as well as a match against Rust College. Four days later, Thiel will play a single CVC match at Juniata in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania.

Eastern Mennonite University will be hosting the second of the three CVC weekends on March 8th, with the Tomcats set to take on Cairn University, Stevenson and the host, EMU.

Coming out of Spring Break, Thiel will take a road trip to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to take on Fontbonne University, the Milwaukee School of Engineering and Medaille College on the weekend of March 16-17.

The Tomcats will play five consecutive non-conference matchups before getting back to CVC play, including participating in the Penn State Behrend tournament on March 23rd. The tournament will feature a rematch against Penn State Behrend, as well as the season's first meetings against Keuka and Lancaster Bible College. The weekend after that, the Tomcats will again take on Keuka on Friday, March 29 and Wells College on Saturday, March 30.

Thiel returns to CVC play on April 3rd, when they host Juniata College.
Cairn University will host the third and final CVC Weekend tournament of the season on April 5 and 6. In it, the Tomcats will play the host, the Highlanders, as well as Stevenson and Eastern Mennonite.
The season concludes on April 12-13th, when the Tomcats host the CVC finals with an automatic berth to the NCAA DIII Men's Volleyball Tournament on the line.
