GREENVILLE, Pa. – Director of Athletics
Jack Leipheimer '74 has announced that Chris Limle has been named the men's head soccer coach at Thiel College.
Limle comes to Thiel by way of Division II Concord University, where he was a graduate assistant coach for the men's soccer program. While at Concord, Limle was involved in all facets of the men's soccer program, including training the men's and women's goalkeepers and serving as the recruiting coordinator for the men's team.
“We are pleased to welcome Chris as our men's soccer coach,” Leipheimer said. “He is extremely passionate about the game and brings a vast amount of diverse knowledge and experience to the position.”
A native of Columbus, Ohio, Limle moved into coaching after a successful collegiate playing career at Urbana University and Muskingum University. In 2006, Limle helped lead Muskingum to its most successful season in program history, finishing with a 10-7-1 record. In 2008, Muskingum earned its first appearance in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Tournament.
Before going to Concord, Limle was an assistant men's coach and goalkeeper coach at Division III Muskingum University, which competes in the OAC. He helped guide them to a 7-12 record. Limle was also employed with the Columbus Crew of Major League Soccer, working in their youth system as a head coach and staff coach for Summer Camp and Director of Goalkeeping for the Crew Juniors Phoenix. Limle has more than four years of experience with the Region I and Region II Olympic Development Programs. He was also an assistant goalkeeper coach for the Ohio South State Olympic Development Program (ODP) as well as the Ohio South ODP state coach.
In his first season at Concord, Limle helped coach four Concord players to All-WVIAC recognition including Ivan Deyanov, who was named to the NSCAA NCAA Division II All Atlantic Region Squad. In Limle's second year, Concord brought in 16 news faces that helped lead the men's team to five wins, which tied a single-season school record. Limle also helped guide freshman Isaac Jordan and senior Richard Vincent to All WVIAC nominations.
Recently, Limle worked alongside several prominent soccer coaches when he was the Goalkeeper Coach for the NPSL Midwest Great Lakes Conference Champions AFC Cleveland. Presently, Limle is the state goalkeeping coach for the West Virginia Olympic Development Program where Bob Gray, the head men's soccer coach at Marshall University, is the director.
Limle has a USSF National “D” License and NSCAA National License in addition to his NSCAA state goalkeeping diploma. Limle received his bachelor's degree from Muskingum University in 2009. He anticipates earning his master's in health promotion from Concord University in May.
The Tomcats won four games in 2012. Following the season, juniors
Francis Ahia (Penn Hills, Pa./Penn Hills) and
Erik Gabrich (Baden, Pa./Freedom ) and freshman
Arran Robertson (Port St. Lucie, Fla. /Lincoln Park Academy ) were named to the All-Presidents' Athletic Conference Honorable Mention Team.
Limle is looking forward to his opportunity at Thiel, stating, “I am very excited about being part of the Thiel College community and coaching in the Presidents Athletic Conference.”
