ERIE, Pa. — The Tomcat men's tennis team defeated the Bobcats of Pitt- Bradford 8-1 on Sunday for their seventh win of the season.
In doubles competition, the Tomcats swept for the third time this season by taking all three doubles matches.
Richard Parks (Penn Hills, Pa./Penn Hills) and
Collin McAndrew (Dayton, Ohio/General McLane) defeated Ian Vaughan and Travis Scida 8-1 at number one doubles.
Shun Kogai (Tokyo, Japan/) and Shinjiro Todaka (Tokyo, Japan/Hyuga-gakuin ) won 8-6 at number two doubles, while Logan Sturgeon and Trevor Fancher scored an 8-2 victory at number three.
The Tomcats clinched the victory after winning the first three singles matches, with Parks, McAndrew, Sturgeon and Kogai all winning in order. The Bobcats finally got on the scoreboard with a win at number five singles, but
Roger Irby (Transfer, Pa./Greenville) picked up a 6-1, 7-5 win at number six to close out the match.
Thiel returns to action on Wednesday March 27, when they travel to take on Waynesburg University. The game is scheduled for a 3:30 p.m. start time.
