Mahdi, Snider named to IWLCA All-Region Teams

GREENVILLE, Pa.  - The Thiel College women's lacrosse team had two standouts tabbed to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association All-Region teams as announced by the IWLCA on Tuesday afternoon. Sophomore midfielder Cassy Mahdi (Odenton, Md./Arundel) and freshman attacker Beth Snider (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler Area) were named to the All-West Region Second Team.

Mahdi was fantastic for the Tomcats in her sophomore campaign leading the squad in nearly every category, including goals (51), assists (17), points (68), ground balls (62), draw controls (90) and caused turnovers (33). In Thiel's 23-4 win over Waynesburg on April 10, Mahdi tallied six points on five goals and an assist, becoming the first Tomcat to surpass the 100 career points plateau. She played a major role in Thiel winning the inaugural Presidents' Athletic Conference Championship, as she scored seven points in the tournament, including scoring the final goal in the Tomcats' 15-13 win over St. Vincent in the PAC championship game.

In just her first collegiate season, Snider finished third on the team with 44 goals and 56 points while also tallying 14 assists and 25 ground balls. Snider notched at least one goal in 17 of the Tomcats' 18 matches, including six goals in the PAC Championship Tournament. Her 56 points is the most in a single season by a freshman in program history.
