GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College wrestling team went 3-0 Saturday at the 11^th Annual Mel Berry Duals, which took place at Thiel College's Beeghly Gymnasium.
 
Thiel earned wins over Mercyhurst North East (35-11), Lourdes (32-20) and Muskingum (27-19). Muskingum finished 2-1 on the day with wins over Lourdes (33-18) and Mercyhurst North East (30-16).
 
Against Mercyhurst North East, Jason Miller (Clarksville, Pa./Jefferson Morgan) pinned Derek Ridgeway in 55 seconds while Justin Walter (Hermitage, Pa./Hickory) (133) won by technical fall (17-0, 5:00) over Tyrone Sims. Senior Eli Swain (McKnight, Pa./North Hills), who was honored prior to Saturday's duals during Senior Day, finished out the match with a 4-3 overtime win over Austin Slocum.
 
Thiel fell behind 10-0 to Lourdes and trailed 20-14 after seven matches. However, a trio of pins at the end by Caleb Garvey (Johnsonburg, Pa./Johnsonburg) at 184, Tyler Brooks (Venango, Pa./Saegertown) at 197 and Gage Gladysz (Greenville, Pa./Greenville) at 285 was more than enough to lift the Tomcats to a 32-20 victory.
 
Miller picked up his second pin of the day when he downed Muskingum's Michael Kashuba in 59 seconds. Miller finished the Mel Berry Duals with a pair of pins and a technical fall.
 
The Tomcats (7-2, 1-0 PAC) will return to action Friday when they face the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets on the road. The Presidents' Athletic Conference match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
