Alumni Stadium

Alumni Stadium
Aptly named Alumni Stadium at Stoeber Field for the outpouring of financial support from Thiel alumni, the facility – which opened with the Tomcats’ first game of the 2001 season against Capital University – was officially dedicated during Homecoming weekend on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001. Alumni Stadium envelops Stoeber Field, named after legendary Thiel coach Jack Stoeber.

Alumni Stadium underwent renovations once again in the summer of 2012, as the FieldTurf was replaced in favor of synthetic grass Sportexe, the same turf used by the SEC's (Southeastern Conference) Arkansas Razorbacks and the NFL's (National Football League) Baltimore Ravens. The synthetic grass features a sand and rubber mix that makes for a fast, dense and firm playing surface.

In the summer of 2024, Alumni Stadium once again underwent a turf replacement, as FieldTurf replace the previous Sportexe.

Some highlights of Alumni Stadium at Stoeber Field are the red brick entrance and ticket booth area, a wrought iron gated entrance, a hospitality center which houses a memorabilia shop and concession stand, and seating for 1,400.

The stadium is also the home for the Victory Bell, which was originally part of Ridgeway Hall, a farmhouse that was bought by the College in 1876 and enlarged in 1881 to be used for the dining hall. The bell was used to call students to meals and later to announce athletic victories. After Ridgeway Hall was razed in 1955, the bell was placed on its own stand near where it Ridgeway Hall stood until the mid-1970s. After that it was moved to the Passavant Center, where it was used to call students to worship.

Thiel College Tennis Courts
Thiel Tennis Courts
Constructed in 1998 as a result of the generosity of Thiel alumni and friends, the Thiel Tennis Courts are located on the north end of campus, adjacent to the Passavant Center and Black Box theater. The six- court facility has recently been resurfaced and features blue Decoturf surfacing, the same color, surface and speed used at the U.S. Open in Flushing Meadows, N.Y.

Baseball Field
Tomcat Park

Opened in time for the 2008 season, the baseball and softball fields at Tomcat Park represent two of the finest such facilities in the Presidents’ Athletic  Conference.  Made possible largely through a $1.2 million grant from the commonwealth of Pennsylvania - the largest-ever grant in the history of Thiel College – the complex is located just north of Roy Johnson Drive on West Campus, near Greenville Borough’s Riverside Park.

The baseball and softball fields each feature new LED scoreboards with inning-by-inning run totals in addition to bleacher seating behind each backstop.  The baseball field is served by a spacious, elevated press box, as well.

Future plans at Tomcat Park include improvements in infrastructure such as on-site parking.
